Jump into the Future : The Borgmann Donation

Thomas Borgmann approaches collecting art as an explorer, and has a sharp eye for innovative art. With his collection Borgmann time and again made a 'jump into the future', discovering extraordinary work by a fresh generation of artists, including Cosima von Bonin, Lucy McKenzie and Wolfgang Tillmans. Recently, Borgmann donated a large numbers of works from his collection to the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The Borgmann works reflect the breadth and diversity of contemporary art produced throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. It was a time when boundaries in art were dissolving: artists utilised media of all kinds, defied categorisation, and were not committed to any one medium, working in painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, installation, video and performance. This books offers a complete overview the works from Borgmann s collection that are now a part of the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, thanks to a generous donation and an acquisition. Artists: Cosima von Bonin, Enrico David, Thomas Eggerer, Jack Goldstein, Jutta Koether, Michael Krebber, Lucy McKenzie, Matt Mullican, Henrik Olesen,, Paulina Olowska, Jorge Pardo, Jeroen de Rijke, Willem de Rooij, John Stezaker, Wolfgang Tillmans, Christopher Williams, Cerith Wyn Evans, Heimo Zobernig
